Venkatappa Art Gallery, housed in Karnataka Government Museum, situated right next to Vishweshwariah Industrial and Technological Museum, Kasturba Road be easily identified by red color building. , The government museum was established in the year 1865. The museum has exhibits of antiquities from Mohenjadaro and terracotta from Mathura. The Venkatappa Art Gallery exhibits some of the most illustrious art-work and hence is a treasure-trove for art aficionados from all parts of the country. Venkatappa Art Gallery comprised of two floors more then 600 paintings on the display all the year around The museum is a must visit place for art lovers. It has some of the exclusive collections of scenic displays.

The museum has two exhibition floors which are divided into 18 galleries. The modern building houses the Art Museum which has a small collection of paintings, relief work, and musical instruments The galleries cover sections that span sculpture, natural history, geology, art, music, and numismatics.

The Archaeological Museum is housed in the grand, heritage building next door. There are a lot of things from the last 2,000 years. including old jewelry, sculpture, coins, and inscriptions. With a host of paintings, sculptures, and hundreds of other artifacts the museum is a really worthwhile place. The collection of artifacts dates back to the 8th Century BC, there is a collection of sculptures, weapons, and artworks that go back several hundred years.
