Description
Cloud Forest located in Singapore's most popular gardens by the bay, cloud forest is in the size of 0.8 hectares in footprint and 65m tall About as big as 60 Olympic-sized swimming pools. The Cloud Forest is a man-made mountain inside a climate-controlled dome that replicates the cool, moist conditions on top of tropical mountains between 1,000 and 3,000 m (3,300 to 9,800ft) above sea level. One is the Flower Dome, which keeps a dry climate of between 23-25° C (73-77° F) and features a range of plants from Mediterranean, Australian, South American and South African regions. Plants featured included tropical rhododendrons, high elevation orchids, bromeliads, pitcher plants, and other epiphytes. An artificial “mountain” is constructed, accessible by an elevator at the look-out point at its peak. Visitors would descend the “mountain” in a circular path, during which they would enjoy the various plants that are added to this “mountain”.
the Crystal Mountain cave features a variety of stalactites, stalagmites, and hollowed-out crystals, and after that you're taken through the +5° C video presentation room, which demonstrates the effect that a 5° C (+9° F) increase in temperature due to climate change is expected to have on mountain-top environments like these. 2,577 glass panels of 690 different shapes and sizes were needed to cover the whole 12,000m2 surface area of the dome.
REFRESHING MIST OF THE WATERFALL
High in the tropical mountains, plants absorb the refreshing mist and abundant rainfall, releasing the water gradually to create a constant, long-lasting supply for the land beneath them to support even more plants!
