Overview
Palolem is a very famous and beautiful beach in South Goa. Palolem beach stretches between two magnificent headlands and the beach is lined with towering coconut palms. palolem is a cozy beach of white sand facing a blue bay between two headlands. The little wooded islands on the northern headland look alluring and you could try and persuade one of the fishermen this is also a fishing beach to ferry you across. This perfect beach is enclosed by a thick forest of coconut palms and makes it a favorite destination among the tourists. Every year bamboo-hut resorts and shacks are erected along the beach. These bamboo-hut resorts allow tourists to stay right on the beach just a few meters away from the sea. there are many shops and stalls along the road selling souvenirs, clothes, and antiques. On the beach, there are beach huts and shacks.lots of water sports activities can be experienced here. also one can visit a small Island nearby to this beach. You can get anything from local Indian delights to authentic Italian pizza and pasta, and an added bonus is that alcohol is completely legal and very accessible.
Know Before you go
- Lots and lots of bargain is needed. the more you do bargain the more you will save.
- Plan to visit on the day you will leave goa back home. Cancona is the station very near to this beach, if your train stop at that station, you can avoid traveling back 2 hours to Goa. Even if the train is from Madgaon, you save one hour of travel.
- Rocks on the Monkey island are slippery, so be careful if you wish to step on the island.
- To reach the Butterfly island you should have some swimming skills as a boat or ferry can't be anchored there.
