About
The Kukkarahalli Lake is a lake that was created in 1864 under the leadership of Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar (1794–1868) of the Mysore Dynasty. it is Located in Mysuru University Campus adjoining to Manasa Gangotri and Kalamandira (Ramayana) which is just 3 km from the main city of Mysore. THIS LAKE Spread across an area of 58 hectares, the Kukkarahalli Lake is a J shaped lake with a shoreline of almost 5 km. The Lake also used to be a source of water supply to the city of Mysore but over the years, sewage and excessive land encroachments and blockage of water flow sources almost led to the eutrophication of the lake.
