About
Manikyadhara water fall is located at the center of Shola Forest. Manikyadhara lies astride a wonderful part of the Bababudan giri and Devirammana Betta and about a kilometer away from Bababudan Giri. On getting there, a set of stairs lead downhill to the foot of the waterfall. This is a small water fall but it is absolute heaven for hikers, bikers, as well as nature lovers of all type. The views are picturesque from this fall. Manikyadhara Falls is an ideal tourist place to keep away from stress of everyday life. At a short distance from Guru Dattatreya Bababudanswaamy’s Darga are the three famous waterfalls with epic associations – Gada Theertha, Kamana Theertha, Nellikayi Theertha. Gada theertha according to a myth was created by the Pandava prince Bheema with his ‘gada’, to quench the thirst of his mother during their exile. Pilgrims who bathe in the Nellikayi Theertha formed by Manikya Dhara Waterfall, leave behind one item of their clothing as per a local belief. As the myth goes, the water of Manikyadhara has healing properties that can cure skin aliments.
