Standing at 36m above the busy Henderson Road, Henderson Waves Bridge is Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge, connecting Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park. Unveiled in 2008, its fantastical shape has lent an unexpected jolt of design savvy to the lush green belt in the south of Singapore. based on the principle of parametric design, this new visual symbol has attracted the community to its walkways and shelters. its three-dimensional surface integrates structure and form in a unique wave that undulates dramatically over and under the bridge deck and creating sheltered seating areas inside every upward curve. with the sensitive use of natural organic shapes and materials such as wood and steel,  this structure helps unite the city’s southern ridges. During the day, one can enjoy the harbour views while standing on the 12-storey high bridge. Beyond the bridge, it provides one with a soothing mood while meandering through the forest walk and the earth trails. 

This architectural wonder is a 274 meter-long and 8m-wide part of the Southern Ridges, a beautiful 9km trail in a lush open space that connects the hills of Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, and Kent Ridge Park. The bridge takes on a different look at night when it is illuminated with attractive LED. The best way to explore the bridge is as part of the Southern Ridges Walk, a five-kilometre hiking trail that takes you through three major parks: Kent Ridge Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park and Mount Faber Park. It is the latter two that Henderson Waves connects. Aside from being able to observe a rich variety of tropical flora and fauna, a walk on the Ridges also affords you some stunning views of the island.

Bus / MRT

 There is a bus stop on Henderson Road right below Henderson Waves. The easiest way to get to the bus stop is taking the MRT to Redhill station (EW18, East-West Line) and from there take Bus #145 for 7stops (about 10min) to "Bef Telok Blangah Hts". When you get off the bus you can see Henderson Waves already, next to the bridge is a staircase going up to the Waves.

From Mount Faber

Henderson Waves can be reached with a 15-20min walk from the Cable Car station at Jewel Box on Mount Faber. To the Jewel Box, you can get also get on foot in 20min from Harbour Front MRT station (CC29, Circle Line) using the trail/stairs going up the hill.

Tips

• go here when sunset comes. It is busy with runners, but the scenery was beautiful. You can see the city of Singapore on the bridge. And don't forget to bring mineral water or snacks and enjoy the view.
• Don't forget to wear light comfortable shoes for walking a couple of kilometres.
