About
Harangi Reservoir is located near Hudgur village, Somwarpet taluk in Kodagu district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The reservoir is formed by a masonry dam built across Harangi River, a tributary of Kaveri River. The Harangi river originates in the Pushpagiri hills of the Western Ghats and being the only reservoir in the region of Coorg, and it holds great tranquil and picturesque value. The Dubare forest area covers the place with its verdant trees and grasslands. The engineering construction stands tall at 47 meters in height and 846 meters (2775 feet) in length. The dam is located about 9 km away from the heart of Kushalnagar town. Harangi dam is an important picnic spot. Harangi Dam is the first Dam build across river Kaveri. One can access its beauty when the reservoir is fully filled with water during August to September.
