Overview

M G Park alias Mahatma Gandhi Park or Ratnagiri Bore which is located on the northern part of Chikmagalur is a beautifully maintained garden and is placed on the backdrop of the Mullayangiri. The park is quite big with a musical fountain and a train ride, which made us remember my childhood days. The park has become the star attraction of the area and has become the favorite spot of picnics and family vacations. This Rathnagiri Bore was just a place for the morning joggers and walkers in the early days before this was made a beautiful park. There are two entrances for the M G Park, one is for the walkers and joggers and the other for vehicles. There are beautifully designed pathways, steps and well manicured and maintained lawns along with a variety of colorful flower plants and water cascading from the top of the hill to the fountain point down below.  

At the fountain point, there is a small pond and four small fountain heads throwing their foamy water around. As you go further, you can see a Nehru Rose Garden consisting about 250 varieties of rose plants. There is an amphitheater with a totally new concept of mini outdoor stage activity of children.  This can become the favorite spot for the kids below 12 years.  At the top of the hill, there is a provisional telescopic viewpoint, a greenhouse and variety of more than 300 species of plants and trees are there to provide ample opportunities to nature lovers and students. There is a Ratnagiri Toy Train which is the cynosure of the garden and an entertainer for all.  The train takes visitors for a kilometer trip on a track which is about 30 feet in places and bunds.  

Train Trip takes you for 2 rounds in the park on all days except Mondays 

• 3:00 pm to 6.30 pm from Tuesdays to Fridays.
• 10:00 am to 6.30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Charges are Rs 10/ for an adult and Rs 5/ for a child.

• Unforeseen Circumstances : This activity requires good weather. In cases of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions leading this activity cancellations, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
• Refund Process : Refunds will be credited to the original booking payment source within 10 business days, and cash refunds will not be issued
